Therefore we are sharing the following information that will help you protect yourself against these new threats:

What is a Phishing Attack?

Phishing is a process used by fraudsters in an attempt to acquire your confidential information by sending out emails or other kinds of messages that direct you to bogus websites or phone lines. These emails or messages claim to be from a particular company, so they often look legitimate. But these messages are actually sent by fraudsters, often at random. Any information you disclose on these bogus websites or phone lines is captured by the fraudsters.

How to Protect yourself from Phishing Attacks

  • Always access our Online Banking system by typing in the correct URL (www.barclays.ae) into your browser. Never click on a link in an email to take you to a website and enter secure information in the email or website
  • Treat unsolicited emails or calls that ask for confidential information with suspicion. If in doubt about the validity of an email contact the company that supposedly sent you the message to make sure its genuine
  • Do not share your online banking username, password or secret question and answer with anyone. Barclays will never request this information from you
  • Do not use public computers to access online banking
  • Never download any program over the internet unless you are positive that the source is secure
  • Keep your anti-virus and firewall software up to date
