With Mobile and Tablet Banking from Barclays you can now access many of the convenient features of Online Banking direct from your mobile phone or tablet device, from wherever you are in the world. It’s free to download and use and the transactions you make are secure, effected within seconds and show instantly on your bank statement.


To access our free Mobile and Tablet Banking service you will need to download the application from the Android or App Store onto your Android or Apple device. If you are already an Online Banking user you can log-in to the application using your Online Banking username and password.

What is Mobile and Tablet Banking?

Mobile and Tablet Banking is the existing Online Banking service, available through selected models of mobile and tablet devices. The webpage design has been optimised for the screen size of the devices you’re using so that you can access your accounts easily.


How is Mobile and Tablet Banking different to Online Banking?

Mobile Banking is designed specifically for mobile devices, which means we use your device's built-in features to provide a better experience. The information is also formatted for display on smart phones. Similarly Tablet banking is designed specifically for tablet devices in order to provide a better experience while accessing Online Banking through this device.


How do I access Mobile or Tablet Banking?

To use the Barclays Mobile or Tablet Banking service, you need to:

  • Have a Barclays current / savings account and/or a Barclaycard

  • Be registered for Online Banking

  • Have an Android or Apple mobile phone or tablet device with a data connection

To log on to Barclays Mobile or Tablet Banking, you need to download the banking apps from www.barclays.ae/apps


How much does Mobile and Tablet Banking cost?

Mobile and Tablet Banking are offered to Barclays customers free of charge.
You may incur internet data charges from your mobile service provider or internet service provider if you are connected via wireless internet. To confirm these charges, please contact your internet/mobile service provider.


Do I need to register for Mobile or Tablet Banking?

You must already be registered for Online Banking through a computer or laptop. You will need your existing Online Banking Username and Password to hand in order to login to Mobile or Tablet Banking.


What is the URL (address) for Mobile or Tablet Banking? How do I access the App Store or Android Market Place?

To download the Mobile or Tablet Banking applications visit www.barcays.ae/apps . Alternatively you can enter the Apple App store or Google play which are located on your device.


What is Android?

Android is a clever mobile phone and tablet operating system from Google. Android operating system versions include:

  • 3.0 Honeycomb (made for tablets)

  • 2.3 Gingerbread

  • 2.2 Froyo

  • 2.0/2.1 Éclair

  • 1.6 Donut

  • 1.5 Cupcake

You can identify an Android device by locating the Android icon on the box or PlayStore icon on your screen.


What devices and operating systems with the Barclays UAE app work on?

Apple: iPhone, iPads or iPod Touch devices that are on an operating system of IOS 4.3 and above.

Android: All Android phones and tablets that carry an operating system version 2.2 and above.


Which banking services are available using Mobile and Tablet Banking?

For security reasons, there are certain functionalities (e.g. Fund transfer to new beneficiaries) that are not available through the mobile or tablet applications. These can only be done through our online banking service.


Using Mobile Banking

How can I access other Online Banking functions?

You can use your browser (Safari, Mozilla, Explorer) to access www.barclays.ae and log on or you can use your computer.


Can I still use regular Online Banking via my mobile phone?

Yes. To log on to Online Banking, type www.barclays.ae into the address bar of your browser and follow the usual process to log on and access the full suite of Online Banking features (your device should be able to deliver the content).


What if I have forgotten my Online Banking login details?

If your account is locked or if you have forgotten your username or password you should go to Online Banking via your computer or laptop and follow the forgot password / username process.


Can I access Mobile and Tablet Banking while overseas?

Yes, you can access Mobile or Tablet Banking anywhere you have an internet connection via your mobile or tablet device.


Do I need a Barclays account to use Mobile and Tablet Banking?

Yes, you must have a Barclays current or saving or Barclaycard account and be registered for Online Banking in order to use Mobile and Tablet Banking.


I've installed the app onto my mobile / tablet device. How do I get started?

After downloading the app, you need to tap on the Barclays UAE icon displayed on your screen.
You will then need to log on using your Online Banking Username, Password and Secret Question Answer. Once logged on you will have a range of banking services available.


Can I schedule a transfer for a later or recurring date using Mobile Banking?

Transfers and bill payments are 'pay now' only. To schedule a future dated transfer or bill payment, you need to access Online Banking using your computer or laptop.


Can I pay bills using Mobile and Tablet Banking?

You can pay billers that have already been set up as Payees on Online Banking. For security reasons, you cannot set up new billers via the Mobile or Tablet Banking service.

Can I change or delete a scheduled payment I have set up using Mobile and Tablet Banking?

No. To modify a transfer or bill payment, you need to access Online Banking.


Security

Is Mobile and Tablet Banking secure?

Yes but you should always remember to lock your phone and keep it in your possession at all times. You should also avoid using the service whilst connected to a public wifi as the security of your details cannot be guaranteed.


What security precautions should I take while using Mobile and Tablet Banking?

  • Never disclose any personal information via email or SMS. Barclays will never ask you for your username, password, secure code of banking details through email or SMS

  • Always lock your phone or tablet device when not in use. A password protects your device so that no-one can use it or view information

  • Use trusted App

  • Do not hack your device (known as jailbreaking) as this can leave it open to infection from a virus or Trojan. We recommend that you also install security software if available

  • Avoid banking on public Wi-Fi networks as these are unsecure and could make you susceptible to attack from other Wi-Fi users

  • If you lose your mobile or tablet device, contact us immediately to temporarily block your Online Banking account

  • Monitor your financial records and accounts on a regular basis

What if I lose my mobile or tablet? Is there a risk that someone can commit fraud on my account?

To log in you must always enter your username and password. Without this information no one will be able to access your account. As an additional fraud prevention measure you will always also be asked for your secret question answer. To protect your log-in details you should never save them on your device. We also recommend using a password to protect access to your device.


How do I know I am downloading a legitimate app?

Our apps will only be available in the official Apple App store and on Google Play. To ensure your account safety you should only download our apps from these stores.
